All the Gossip you need to know about Concealer

Born to Glow // Tarte Creaseless // Tarte Shape Tape

Are you ready? You asked and I am sharing all my favorite concealers complied into one blog post. One of the most popular questions that you all ask, is “what concealer do you recommend for aging eyes”? If you are new around here, I turned 45 last July. I am a beauty junkie and love to play with all types of beauty products. I thought it would be best to write a blog post and share my honest opinion on all the top-recommended concealers.

Here are a few rules to live by when applying concealer.

  1. Hydration – Hydrate under your eyes. Your concealer will work so much better if you apply a thin layer of eye cream morning and night.
  2. Prime – I have 2 eye primers that I absolutely love and swear by. It is important to apply a thin layer of primer where you want to conceal dark spots. Remember your concealer is to brighten (not conceal).
  3. Concealer – Apply a thin layer of concealer in the shape of dots along the side of your nose, one by the inner corner, and outer corner of your eye. Use your sponge or ring finger to dab and brighten. Dab your concealer up towards your eyes and gently press into your skin. The warmth of your fingers will press your products into your skin and will help with creases.

Trish McEvoy Eye Lift // Origins Ginzing  Eye Balm // Becca Eye Primer

If you are looking for an eye cream that brightens and hydrates at the same time, I would highly recommend the Origins Ginzing eye balm. Not only does it hydrate, but it leaves a bright pink hue on your skin. It has caffeine in it and will help wake up the eyes and look refreshed.

Next is to prime under your eyes. My first love will always be the Trish McEvoy Eye lift. I have shared this product for years and it will always be my #1 primer for under your eyes. Check out my IGTV for beauty tutorials on how to apply.

I just recently shared the Becca brightening under eye primer on my stories. Although this is not my first choice, it definitely ranks pretty high. This creamy color corrector uses light-reflecting technology that helps deflect the light away from dark circles under the eyes.

If you are looking for a drug store concealer, then this would be my top pick. It isn’t too thick but really covers and brightens. This was my no.1 pick for years and has a nice tip for application. This can be used to cover imperfections on your face as well as using as a concealer. For me, this ranks 3rd place.

Tarte Creaseless // Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer

If you are looking for good coverage, last 12 hours or more, waterproof, and won’t fall into your lines and creases then this is your concealer. Anytime someone asks if I could recommend a concealer for aging eyes, this is the one I would recommend tenfold. You don’t need a lot of product, and the best trick is to apply closest to the inner and outer corner, down the sides of your nose, and bring the product up towards the eyes. The less product you use, the less chance you will have of the product falling into your fine lines and creases. I love the consistency and have named this my No. 1 choice for concealers.

Tarte Shape Tape (Contour Concealer)

This is the new shape tape that contours and conceals. If you have always wanted to use shape tape concealer but it was drying and showing you all the flaws under your eyes, then you are about to get really excited. I was lucky enough to try it during Christmas and it has been one of my go-to concealers. It’s lightweight, creamy, and really covers all around the face. QVC is the only retailer that carries the new formula, it will be hitting stores in late Spring. For me, this ranks No. 2.

Tarte Sea Hydroconcealer

Tarte Sea Hydroconcealer

The Hydroconcealer is a fan favorite. It is weightless, waterproof, sweatproof, and provides nice coverage for 12 hours. It has hydro flex technology and moves with the skin. I wear this on days when I don’t need that much coverage under the eyes. This would be perfect to wear with your favorite sunscreen and be in the sun all day and want that makeup no-makeup look. So many have named this their No. 1 concealer. For me, this ranks 4th place.

Milani // Elf // Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination

Amazon makeup brushes // Scotch and Soda Uni-Sex Cologne

Milani Concealer

For a drug store brand, I feel like this would be a great dupe to shape tape without the added moisture. It has a thick consistency and you only need very little of this product. I like to use this in a pinch moment to conceal pimples under my makeup.

Elf Concealer

I was so excited to try this concealer but didn’t love it as much as I hoped I would. It has a very thick consistency but started to crease after 6 hours of wear. It looked beautiful for pictures but wasn’t great for my aging eyes for an all-day look.

Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination

This is very new to using in my beauty regime, as I have only played around with the coverage a hand full of times. My first impression is that you need very little product. It is a very thick consistency, will definitely cover under eyes, but was not my favorite. I believe this would be used to cover dark spots or conceal other flaws on your skin. If you have aging eyes, I wouldn’t recommend this as your go-to concealer.

Well, that’s a wrap with me answering your top questions on every concealer in my drawer.

I have shared the good the bad and the must-haves. I can’t wait to hear what concealers are your favorite and which ones you would add to your beauty regime.

Until our next share…
